Donderdag 30 Januari 2025, 19:00 - 20:00

30.01.2025 19:00 - 20:00

This reading group will focus on the topic of memory and will be held in collaboration with SEA Foundation. We will be hosted by Dutch-Colombian architect and artist Roberto Uribe Castro. For this session he chose the title Ghostly Matters written by Avery Gordon. In this book, which is considered a masterpiece for social and cultural theory, the author demonstrates that past or haunting social forces control present life in different and more complicated ways.

The reading group is only accessible for an English speaking audience.

Roberto Uribe Castro

Roberto Uribe Castro looks at how architecture and urban spaces materialise many political, social and historical injustice that is often disregarded. This is also reflected in the city Roberto grew up in, Bogotá, a city marked by deep social inequalities most of them rooted deeply in an economical system built upon the Industrial revolution based on colonialism and exploitation.
